Good morning! The sun is up, the air is crisp; spring is in the air! Life is Good!!
Spring break was different for me this year. My boys are so much older and responsible, :-), that I can leave them at home, while I go to work. I actually offered my partner at work, the chance to have spring break off with her kids! Can you believe it?? I had a moment of kindness! I remember the days of having shifts during spring break, and wondering where I could leave the boys. Fortunately, I had family close by to help me out. My co-worker doesn't really have close family, and then scrambles for childcare for her young children. So, since she helps me out all the time, it was my turn to reciprocate. So, I did work Wed, Thurs, and Friday. Give me a star!! It went really well. I had the pleasure of working with my niece on Thurs and Fri. She is still doing her practicum at the hospital, for another week. She's doing well! It was alot of fun to have her with me. She even gave me a ride to work on Thurs; that was such a treat! I could get used to this!
The rest of last week, well, it was a blur. I don't know if anyone cares what I do, but I'm trying to write what I do, for some people who wonder what keeps us busy, and out of trouble.
Monday-I was at home. Laundry, cleaning, sorting through clothes with the boys, went to town to pay month end bills..... you know, necessary stuff.
Tuesday-got all my income tax stuff together on a pile for the accountant. Took Jayde to his regional team practice in the evening. 1 1/4 hr drive-one way.
Wed-worked a 12 hr shift-days. Our accountant was at our house by six, so when I got home at 8, I spent the next 2 hrs finishing loose ends with him.
Thurs-worked 8 hr day. Our transmission went on the truck on Tues night, and the shop dropped in a new one today, so I picked up the truck after work. Went to pick up Del at work, chatted with his bosses dad for a bit, and then home. I got to be at home for a whole 15 minutes, before hitting the road with Jayde, again, for his regional team practice, again. Home at 1030.
Friday-12 hr day shift. Went straight to Wpg from work. Got there at 9. Went to the motel, where Jayde and Del had already checked in. They had left at 730 in the morning already, for Jayde's hockey tournament. He played at 1115 and 315. Won one, lost one. Kyle had gotten picked up by Andrea, in the morning, for his tournament. His team played at ??, maybe 3 and lost their game. She had him for the day, and we went to pick up Kyle from her families home at 10 that night.
Saturday- Kyle had 3 games. At 945, 1245, and 515. They won 2, and lost 1. They did very well, considering the time spent on the ice that day. Jayde had tryouts with the Mustang team in the morning. And, he made it onto the team. That should complicate things alittle! Kyle went with Andrea, after his last game, to stay at her dads house for the night, in case they had to play on Sunday. Del, Jayde, and I actually went for supper @ Applebees! Mmmmmm. That was good. Back to the motel around 1030. What a day!
Sunday-left the motel at 8, cuz Jayde played at 1015. They won. Then they had a 15 min. break, and played again. And won. Jayde was so excited. His team was behind 3-2, when they scored to tie the game. He let a weak shot go from the blue line, and someone tipped it in to tie. It was really cool to see the team look determined to try to pull this one out of the bag. Jayde scored with 1 second left in the 3rd, to win the game. He shot again from the blue line, and went in!!! What a way to end the tournament. He had a great time playing with this team. They play another tournament 2 weeks from now. So, then we went back to Wpg, where Del and Jayde immediately took the truck home, so they could feed the cattle. I waited for Andrea, so I could take Kyle home. Home around 630. It was actually hard to come home. There was no snow in Wpg, no cooking required, no cleaning required....... and then to come north to snow, unpacking, cleaning, laundry, work.....the REAL world. Oh, well! Spent the evening getting it all unpacked and such. Getting the boys ready for back to school. Had 3 babies over the weekend. All looked good. Got a phone call after 10, an invitation for Jayde to tryout for another summer team. Need to make some decisions this week. Tough ones.
Monday-today. After I motivate myself off the computer. I need to finish up the laundry, clean my kitchen, make something good to eat. Need to be at school by 1 to sort out the PAC Scoop-a-lot order, for parents to pick up by 3. Kyle has practice in the city tonight. We'll leave at 330.
Ever wonder what your pet peeves are? I thought about this this weekend. Yeah, this will sound really stupid and trivial. One of mine is-when people walk, dragging their feet on the ground. Have you ever sat still in a public forum and listened to the noise around you? At the rink this weekend, I did this. Some people obviously don't watch themselves walk! Pick up your feet!
Seriously now, I've thought alot this last week about our life plan. Like how do you know what is the right thing to do with yourself? My niece and friend at work, got me thinking about this. It's kind of natural at a certain stage in life, like after school, to wonder, what should I do with my life. But, it also comes up again in your 30's, and sometimes in your 40's. This is called normal for these stages in life. But, really, how do you know what is it you should do?? These decisions make such an impact on the rest of your life! How do you find the right job, or the right place to live? The right friendships? Sometimes, its just making a decision at the time that seems right. And dealing with the consequences. Easier said than done.
Now, another thing on my mind, is the blessing of the people around you that contribute to who you are. I have some very special people in my life. They put up and love me for who I am. Believe me, I'm so not perfect, and these people just love me for who I am. This is truly a blessing. I can not put into words how grateful I am for my friends support. I love them dearly!
On that note, I better go switch loads into the washing machine! Have a good day!
