May 1st! Spring is here! My life has been alot of the same-hockey, work, cattle, hockey, work, cattle...... I'm back at work today and tomorrow. The evenings the last couple of weeks have consisted of someone from our family going to the city. Either one, two, three, or all of us. Del is staying home a bit more as his schedule is a little full with working full-time, looking after the cattle, and trying to get ready for seeding. Some days just don't have enough hours. The boys have had many practices and games. This weekend Kyle has a tournament in the city, while Jayde has practices. I'm hoping to be back in time on Saturday, to actually get some yard work done. I love this time of year when the perennials come up! I actually bought some plants at Costco the other day. I couldn't resist!
So, yesterday, we got in our cattle chase for the week. So create this mental picture-cows with newborn calves, lively steers, broken fence, and spring thaw-meaning deep mud and ****! Those **** steers broke the fence between them and the cows that were calving and decided to move to the other side of the fence. Kinda funny when you think of it later!! Not funny yesterday. Took 3 hours to sort them out of there! Poor little babies. We had to take it easy while sorting so the little ones wouldn't get trampled! I felt like opening the gates and chasing the cattle on out of the fence and run them down the road! Right to Rol's-just kidding!!! I think we're gonna ship those animals!
The boys have done their solo poetry pieces at festival this week. Both did very well. I'm always so proud of our schools kids. They are usually well behaved and respectful at festival. I was frustrated yesterday, when I watched some of the other schools kids-they could have used some 'tuning in'. Kudos to our great teachers for the respectful attitude they bring out in the kids!
So, May 31 is fast approaching! The sale! Are we ready?? not nearly! It's kind of hard to get ready for the sale while the yard is covered in water and mud. Oh, well, we will be ready when the time comes. 30 days! Some days its tempting to just sell every piece, instead of trying to decide what do we need to keep, or should we give it up.
I've had some moments this last while, wondering if moving to 'no man's land' wouldn't be fun. Just to get away from it all. Take all the people you want with you and then be gone!! Sounds good, doesn't it? Ok, enough dreaming!
Got to go back to work. I'm off at 3 today, and then I need to take Kyle to his game in the city tonight. Del's gonna be home tonight, making a road in the farm yard, to get over the water/mud situation!
