Happy Mother's Day to all of you. It's kind of nice to celebrate moms, but know if you're not a mom, you still get some credit, cuz without all of you, we wouldn't be who we are!
So, it's Sunday morning, the sun is out, and I'm at work. I could tell you what's been keeping me busy, but its like a broken record at this point. Work, Farm, Hockey......... With a few perks thrown in.
Friday, my niece, Michelle, graduated from her LPN program. I'm so excited for her. All my life I've tried to persuade her to do something non-nursing, and then of course like any child, she does just that! She's going to be very good at her job. She has a genuine caring attitude, she doesn't hold back from a difficult task, and she's got a great smile. Her patients are going to love her. So, when Friday came around, I knew I wouldn't miss the event, because its a big deal to her. I was so proud! And, to top it off, she got a call from work on Saturday afternoon to work that night. This is before her interview for a job, which is Monday. Talk about the cart before the horse, eh?? A paycheck is on its way!
So, I was so embarrassed Friday evening. I've been going like a banshee, (does that word still exist??), and we once again went away on Friday evening. No, not to hockey. This time it was a birthday party. For Onyx! He's going to be 3! This is a special event, as he's like an extension of our family. He's such a great kid. Character!! Anyway, had a great time at the party, until my eyes didn't want to stay open anymore. I had my contacts in , and hadn't brought my glasses, so I had to leave my contacts in. I was seeing blurry and could barely open my eyes to look past the 'double vision'! You know that feeling when you can't stand it?? So, I take the easy chair in the living room, where the lights are out, and the men are watching TV and Visiting. I felt like I was so rude. Eventually we went home, where we all, all 4 us, stumbled and fell into our beds!! Don't think anyone gave much thought to anything else.
Del got on the field yesterday with the air seeder. So, another grain year has started. I've had to go to town for parts a couple times, and picked up fertilizer with the grain truck. I even wrestled with this massive air seeder hose, beside the road. Some very kind man stopped by to help me. I was so frustrated, I almost threw out the hose beside the road and left it there for someone to take. Only picturing Dels face, with the story, made me take that thing home. And the look on his face when I drove into the farm yard was priceless. I had this hose behind my head, out the passenger window, strapped onto the mirror, and tucked under the grain box. How embarrassing! I don't know how wide this hose is, but maybe 8-10 inches wide, and stiff. Maybe 20 feet long???? It wasn't pretty! But it sure must have been funny to watch! I can say that now!
Yesterday I made up for some lost sleeping time. After Kyle's game, I took the boys to the next rink for Jayde's practice. There we had lunch-that I brought from home- and I napped. Then we went for a little ride, and came back, and I napped another 1 1/2 hours. Felt so good to drive home and not be nodding off! Got home, and found my mom and dad in my garden. They planted some of it. Potatoes, and such. I am seeding all of lettuce, spinach, and dill. Hope I can keep that under control. Then I spent the evening on the field, helping Del. Today, at work it's like I'm on holiday, cuz I don't need to drive!
So, the boys have to miss their hockey today. I'm working, Del's working, and anyone else who would consider help drive, is busy. Can't understand why anyone would have a life with plans, especially on Mother's Day! :-) Good for them. So, the kids aren't impressed, but such is life.
Hope everyone has a fantastic day!
